July 2, 1973 – December 30, 2025.
Rick began his next journey at 52 years old. He was a ready-mix driver at Fordyce Concrete for 27 years and a #541 Teamster Member.
Rick was an avid baseball player from the age of 5 to 36. He excelled as a pitcher, shortstop, and catcher. He was honored with a Blue Darter award in 1988 and a bronze plaque displays his name at Lea McKeighan Park in Lee’s Summit.
He was a quarterback in football at fifteen, earning awards for farthest punting and kicking. At 16 he enjoyed skydiving. At 18, he and his brother, Ryan, began running in demolition derbies for 20 years, then they tried stock car racing. Rick loved fishing and hunting since childhood.
At the age of 13, he started mowing lawns for $5.00, eventually owning “Rick's Lawn and Landscape” including tree trimming, selling firewood and snow removal. He enjoyed his boats, campers and classic cars. His 1979 Bronco is displayed at Johnny Ray’s Drive-In.
In 2001, he was overjoyed to have a daughter, Madison. We have always been proud of accomplishments, integrity, work ethics and endurance.
He will be greatly missed, till we meet again.
Fly high with the Almighty, Son, for now you are truly a “free bird”.
