

Lolita Kay Martin, 69, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away the 4th day of November, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospice House surrounded by her family after a long battle with Chron’s disease. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7th. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6th at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Home Care & Hospice or St. Luke’s Hospice House.
Kay was born May 25, 1944 in Onaga, Kansas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grain Valley. She was united in marriage to J. Roland Martin on August 2nd, 1969. She worked for many years as a cashier at a grocery store in Heart Mobile Village, then at DST Systems as a Data Transaction Analyst. Kay never knew a stranger and valued her family and friends as golden in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lowell and Stella Loughmiller, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law Orace and Eleanor Martin. Kay is survived by her husband of 44 years, Roland Martin; daughter Debbie Herder and husband Bill of Oak Grove, Missouri; son Dwayne Martin and wife Dana of Grain Valley; brother Max Loughmiller and wife Janice of Onaga, Kansas; sister Verla Harding of Topeka, Kansas; brother-in-law Butch Martin and wife Janet of Independence, Missouri; five granddaughters who were the light of her life, Morgan, Mariah, Nicole, Olivia and Haley; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends who she considered family as well.
