Loraine, affectionately known as “LoLo,” was born February 21, 1944, in McGhee, Arkansas to LB Suber and Clozie Stanley. She was preceded in death by her father, LB Suber, Mother, Clozie Stanley, brothers, Leo Suber, Nathaniel Suber, Leler Corinth Suber, Leroy Suber and Erskin Suber.
Loraine accepted Christ at an early age, and she loved the Lord and tried to instill it in everyone she encountered. She became a member of the Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 13 where she remained active until her passing.
Loraine graduated from Manual Tech High School in Kansas City, Mo. She later attended Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, Missouri where she obtained a degree in Culinary Arts.
Loraine was the Matriarch of the family and garnered respect from all. To know her was to love her! She was extremely big on family and would not allow them to suffer, if they needed something she was always there, whether it was a place to stay, a hot meal, money, or a counseling session. Loraine took care of many generations. She truly loved her Husband and Children. Also, she loved singing in the Church Choir. When she was no longer able to sing, you could still hear her singing from the audience, which always brought smiles and joy to others. She loved spending time with family, cooking, playing word games, puzzles, and scrabble, which was her favorite game. Also, she was a diehard Royals fan!
Loraine, on July 24, 1976, married the love of her life, Olis Nelson and from this union they had 2 daughters.
Loraine departed this life on Saturday, August 28, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Olis Nelson; son, Steven Nelson, Sr.; daughters, Eva Nichols (Willie), Bridgette Nelson and Marva Walker; sister, Bernice Gay; grandchildren, Steven Nelson, Jr. Anthony Tabron, Jr., DeAndre Nichols, Aiden Nelson and Marlene Hack; special niece, Meia Dabner; and a host of nieces, great nieces, great-great nieces, nephews, great nephews, great-great nephews, cousins, and many friends.
A visitation for Loraine will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 9:00am to 11:00am at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church of Jesus Christ, 6841 Sni-A-Bar Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64129. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am. A Committal Service will follow at 1:00pm at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
