She was born in Butler County IA. and raised in Charles City, IA. They married Dec. 2, 1927 and soon had three loving children. In 1937, Elmer was transferred to Kansas City and later to Little Rock AR., with Dr. Salsbury's Labs; there Loretta joined him as his office assistant and remained so until they retired. In 1972 they relocated to Lake Pomme de Terre to pursue their mutual love of fishing. When it was too cold or rainy, jigsaw puzzles filled Loretta's time. After Elmer's passing in 1996, Loretta moved back to Gladstone to be near her daughter, eventually moving in with Shirle and remained in her care until her death.
She was preceded in death by Elmer, sons Merlin and Leland, two Grandchildren, and four siblings. She is survived by her daughter and "son" Shirle and Ken Winkler, of the home, seven Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, six Great, Great Grandchildren, her daughter in laws, Beth Weiss and Estelle Weiss a sister Marguerite Shiber of Des Moines and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-6pm Friday Feb. 15 at Mt. Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home 801 NW 108th St., KCMO. Services will be, 2 pm Saturday Feb. 16 at the chapel. The family requests donations to The American Heart Association or FUMC of NKC elevator maintenance fund. Loretta loved family and was with them until the end.
