Cam was the 5th generation of the Schutte family to live in Kansas City. He attended J.C. Nichols elementary school then Southwest High School where he was active in student government as Student Council President and was recipient of the Sis Arnold Award for Outstanding Senior. Later he helped to coordinate multiple class reunions. Cam graduated from Stanford with a BA in Psychology and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He served as an Air Intelligence Officer in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War receiving the Navy Achievement Medal.
His entire career involved management of Computer Information Systems most recently as the owner of Internet Solutions Group, Ltd, retiring in 2017. Previously he was the Vice-President of Information Systems for Long Motor Corporation in Lenexa after being a marketing manager for Burroughs Corporation in Kansas City.
Past memberships included Blue Hills Country Club, Kansas City Club, Sertoma Club of Kansas City, Wyandotte Camera Club, and Greater Kansas City Pipe Club. His hobbies and interests included photography, bowling, golf, shotgun sports, hunting, and collecting both smoking pipes and fountain pens.
Cam is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley; his brother Philip and wife Carol. Many friends will miss Cam, especially "pen Pals" Mike and Al.
He was baptized at Country Club Christian Church and has been a member for over 60 years. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Combs Chapel at Country Club Christian Church followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that donations be given to the Country Club Christian Church or a charity of your choice.
