

Louwana Ann McNamara, 82, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday evening, July 10th. Visitation from 6-8pm Thursday, July 14th at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel with rosary recited at 5:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30am Friday, July 15th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 7009 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133, with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Lou was daughter to Jessie & Joseph Shortino of Raytown, MO and wife to Thomas McNamara Sr. Lou attended grade school at Assumption and graduated from St. Aloysius High School in 1954. After graduating from High School, Lou attended St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, KS where she earned her BS in Chemistry. After a one year internship at Providence Hospital she became certified as a Medical Technologist MT (ASCP). She was in charge of the Microbiology & Serology department at Providence.
Lou married Thomas McNamara Sr. in June 1957. The next 13 years she stayed home to raise their 5 children. In 1970 she went to work in the lab at the Raytown Clinic. She retired in 1997 from HCA Midwest.
Lou had a great capacity for joy and love in her life. She served as President of the Kansas City Alumni Association for St. Mary’s College. She also was the Treasurer for the Women’s Golf League at Teetering Rocks. Lou loved sports of all kinds, whether watching her children and grandchildren at the park or watching the Chiefs and Royals at home. Lou never spoke ill of anyone. She was always understanding and compassionate of everyone. She truly enriched the lives of all she was around. She will be greatly missed by all.
Lou is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Thomas and their daughter-in-law, Janet McNamara, widow to Thomas Jr. She is survived by her sisters, Phyllis Sandy of Eau Claire, WI and Jo (Danny) Kliefoth of Raytown, MO; her children, Thomas Jr. of Lee’s Summit, MO, Cindy (Greg) Hubler of Overland Park, KS, Joseph of Lee’s Summit, MO, Anne (Tom) Snoddy of Harrisonville, MO and John (Kristina) of Olathe, KS; 15 grandchildren, Jessica McNamara, Lucas McNamara, Patrick (Monica) McNamara, Sean (Jennifer) McNamara, Ryan Hubler, Adam (Bobbie) Hubler, Ashley McNamara, Lexi McNamara, Sarah McNamara, Garrett McNamara, Zachary Snoddy, Lindsey Snoddy, Misty Snoddy & Aaron McNamara & George Thomas; 8 great grandchildren, Sophie Biven, Aiden Biven, Madison Biven, Jaelyn Hubler, Ava Hubler, Alexia Delgado, Zander Perryman & Langston Thomas.

The family would like to thank Miranda, Bridgett, Ruth, LaThalia & Leah with Right at Home who took great care of our mother, as well as Kansas City Hospice.
