

Mannetta G. Sarver, 93, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015. She was born Mannetta Koerner in Aberdeen, South Dakota, on October 25, 1922. Her family soon moved to Canby, Minnesota before making their home in Kansas City where she attended Blessed Sacrament Elementary School and Central High School, where she met the love of her life, James D. “Don” Sarver. They were married on April 28, 1941 and enjoyed 74½ years of marriage. While Don was serving in the Pacific in the U.S. Navy during World War II she worked for Koch Refrigeration in Kansas City. In the late 1960’s and into the 70’s she worked for United Telecom in Fairway, Kansas which would later become Sprint.
Mannetta, “Nettie,” and Don have three children, Linda Goodwin, Dan Sarver (Cathy), and Craig Sarver (Trish), all of Kansas City, four grandchildren, Zachary Goodwin (Cherie Kelly), Michael Sarver (Tessa), Brad Sarver and Amy Askren (Ben), and three great-grandchildren, Owen Sarver and Alex and Andi Askren.
Although her love for her family was her primary passion, she found time to be active in her community and her church. Mannetta was active with the West Plaza Neighborhood Association, the E.F. Swinney Elementary and Paseo High School PTA’s and volunteered at Truman Medical Center. Mannetta was a past parishioner of Guardian Angels Catholic Church and more recently St. Agnes Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Koerner and Leona Miller, her step-father, Richard Miller, and son-in-law, Coy R. “Ron” Goodwin.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 31st, where the Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 a.m., at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 5250 Mission Road, Roeland Park, KS, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. She will be interred at Mt. Olivet Cemetery following the mass.
