

Manuel “Manny” Hernandez, 89 of Kansas City, MO passed away on May 1, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 5 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1310 Westport Road, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00. Manuel will be buried at Forest Hill/Calvary Cemetery, 6901 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO.
Manuel was born on December 13, 1932 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Pablo and Antonina (Mandujano) Hernandez. Manuel and Micaela (Mickey) were married on November 29, 1957. Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Frank Hernandez; sisters, Augustina Ramirez, Lupe Rodriguez, Angie Hernandez, Mary Vera, Lydia Morales, Margaret Armendariz, and Juanita Vasquez. He has one surviving sister, Lila Casperson. Manuel leaves behind his children, Paul (Rose Ann), Manuel (Debbie), Joe (Karen), and Esperanza Fierro (Roman). His grandchildren are Matthew Hernandez, Clara Hernandez, Dr. Manuel Hernandez III (Ashly), Michael Hernandez (Erika), Christopher Hernandez, Anthony Hernandez (Jessica), Quinn Hernandez, Samuel Hernandez, Xavier Hernandez, Elissa Johnson (Zachary), Gabriel Fierro, and Roman Fierro. Manuel was blessed with 9 great-grandchildren, Michael, Olivia, Adalyn, Damian, Sofia, Kayden, Julian, Ronan and Reyna. Manuel loved nothing more than to be surrounded by his family on any occasion, but especially holidays and boxing matches. He enjoyed jazz music and watching old westerns on television. Taking care of his family and helping others was always a priority. He was a member of the U.C.M. (Union Cultural Mexicana) Group and served in the Armed Forces (Army) as a Corporal in the Korean War. Words cannot express how much he was loved and will be missed. He was one of the great ones!
