Marcie was born October 27, 1942, to Roy Eddie and Marietta Rita (DeNapoli) Monson in Newport, RI. Her father served in the U.S. Navy and the family resided in the New England area before moving to Jacksonville, FL. Marcie married Bruce on October 28, 1961, and they lived in Hollywood, FL. They moved to St. Johnsbury, Vermont in 1971, where they raised their family and Marcie worked for the public school system. Marcie and Bruce moved to Kansas City in 1992, where they resided until her death. She worked at St Stephen’s Academy until her retirement in 2007.
Marcie was predeceased by her mother, Marietta, father, Roy, and son, Roy Corbitt. Marcie is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Bruce, her son JB (Dorothy) Corbitt, her daughter Denise (Kile) Schwardt, daughter-in-law, Ellen Corbitt, sisters Claudia Maricle and Marietta Huckeba, her granddaughter, Katherine Doubledee, and nieces and nephew.
Marcie was a beloved wife and mother and a passionate dog mom, and she passed her love of dogs onto her children. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family. She was an amazing cook as well.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 28th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, where friends may visit with the family following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Polycystic Kidney Foundation or American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) are suggested.
