She graduated from Southwest High School and received her bachelors degree from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Haney, and is survived by her mother, Hazel Fay Haney, her brother William Haney Jr., her husband, Agelon T. Jones, and her children, Michael Gene Braden, Jason Braden, and Angela Jones-OBrien, as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family members, and many friends.
Marci had a passion for the outdoors, animals, and nature conservation. This passion was evident in her enjoyment of time spent camping and hiking as well as her years dedicated to promoting these during her employment with the city of Kansas City, Missouri. She worked at the Kansas City Zoo as a Docent, Keeper, and Operations Manager, was the Director of Lakeside Nature Center, and retired from the city in 2008 as Superintendent of Parks/South Region Manager. Throughout her career, she was committed to ensuring that our city communities could access animal and nature education and to preserving our local habitats and animal species.
There will be a private memorial for her family. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeside Nature Center, KCMO Parks, to continue the local conservation efforts for which she advocated.
