Margaret Elizabeth Goeckeler, “Marge” of Raytown, Missouri was 90 years old. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri in January of 1934 and passed away peacefully on February 2024 at the Silverado Memory Care of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Marge’s parents, Margaret & Steven Kovach, were Hungarian immigrants. Together, they raised a loving and faithful family of three girls, of which Marge was the middle child. Her father served as a priest for the Hungarian members in East St. Louis for many years. As a young child, Marge was fluent in Hungarian and grew an appreciation for her native food and culture. She went to Roosevelt High School and later worked for AAA.
Marge was a lifelong member of the New Apostolic Church. She sang in the choir and also served as a Sunday School teacher. In 1955, she married the love of her life and moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she faithfully served as a minister’s wife for many years, traveling many miles alongside her husband to serve God’s children. She graciously and selflessly shared her husband for the sake of the Lord’s work. Marge was a very good cook and enjoyed hosting many dinners in her home. She also was a very talented seamstress and lovingly made numerous outfits for herself, as well as for her family.
Marge was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She never got to meet her grandparents, who resided in Hungary, but that didn’t stop her from being a wonderful grandmother herself, to her long-awaited grandchildren.
Marge was proceeded in death by her husband of 45 years, David Goeckeler, her only son, Steve Goeckeler, her parents, Margaret & Steve Kovach and her older sister, Rose Hess. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Elvana Goeckeler and granddaughters, Ava & Lexi Goeckeler of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and her sister, Irene Rossmann, of De Leon Springs, Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews.
