Marian N. Miller, 73, of Village of Loch Lloyd, Missouri departed this life peacefully on April 19, 2010 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Marian was born in Florissant, Missouri in January 1937 to Irene and Ed Couranz. Marian attended the University of Missouri with a freshman scholarship from 4-H. She graduated with a dual major in Home Economics/Journalism. She met her husband to be, Lowell, while in attendance at the University. While completing her degree she had several articles published in magazines devoted to fashion. After graduation Marian worked as a food supervisor in one of the men’s dormitories while Lowell finished his doctorate degree. Marian has been a strong supporter of what is now the College of Human and Environmental Sciences at the University of Missouri where a scholarship was established in her name several years ago. Marian’s greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She also enjoyed cooking and traveling with her husband Lowell, particularly to Australia to visit with her brother and his family and to Scotland where she had a close and dear friend, Nancy Breeze. In addition to her family, two of Marian’s great pleasures were her involvement with the Village of Loch Lloyd Garden club and a weekly golf outing in summers with wonderful friends. Recently, Marian and Lowell celebrated 50 years of a loving marriage by taking a relaxing cruise with several friends around Italy and the Islands of Croatia. Marian is survived by Lowell, her husband of 50 years, a son Lowell Jr. and his wife Karen, a daughter, Jeanette, six wonderful grandchildren, Amanda, Emily, Ellen, Thomas, Todd and Nicholas. A brother, Charles Couranz of Perth, Australia and his wife Marie and a sister, Anne Pickles, of St. Louis, County, Missouri, and her husband Don, also survive her. The family wishes to thank a network of close and dear friends whose prayers, thoughts and cards meant so much to her during her battle with a very aggressive malignant melanoma. The family would also like to thank the entire staff at the Kansas City Hospice House for the loving care extended to Marian during her time at the facility. Marian was a very compassionate and giving person and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Marian N.
