

Marilyn was born on January 9, 1946, in Washington, Iowa. She was the daughter of Sylvester H. (Bud) Mineart and Ferne E. (Goehring) Mineart. Marilyn was the delightful sister of Mary Margaret Wagner, Burlington, IA; Rosalie (Clarence) Kinney, Bloomfield, Iowa; Carol Harrell, Ann (Deryl) Drum, Crestview, Florida; and Martha (Ben) Buckman, Excelsior Springs, Missouri. She was a doting and fun loving aunt to Tony Russell, Eugene, Oregon; Eric (Bonnie) Wagner, Independence, Missouri; Gerald (Keri) Kinney, Reinbeck, Iowa; her godchild, Mike Wagner; Catherine Kinney(Chuck Waletzke), Kingman, Arizona; Kenny (Lisa) Russell, Jacksonville, Florida; Ben Wagner, New London, Iowa; Phillip (Rebekah) Kinney, Winterset, Iowa; Aaron (Shanna Gossage) Wagner, Burlington, Iowa; her godchild, Nathan (Emily) Buckman, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; Megan (Daniel) Lane, Holt, Missouri; John (Chelsey)Drum, Jacksonville, Florida; Tyler (Sarah) Buckman, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; and Rebekah Drum, Boulder, Colorado. Her delight with her family continued with the addition of each of her 16 great nieces, 16 great nephews and 3 great nieces and a great nephew.
Marilyn was proceeded in death by her parents, sister Carol Harrell and nephew Mike Wagner.
Marilyn had many dear Goehring and Mineart aunts, uncles and cousins some who are deceased.
Most of Marilyn’s childhood was spent on a farm northwest of Fairfield, Iowa. Marilyn graduated from Fairfield Community High School in 1964. She was an active member of 4-H, Spanish Club (practicing Spanish with the family pets), FHA.
Marilyn moved to the Kansas City area in 1979 before purchasing her home Independance, Missouri where she lived until moving in 2022 to Aspire Senior Living Excelsior Springs. Marilyn was known for her radiant smile and charming social ability. This ability to engage others was a gift for her patients as she practiced nursing after graduating from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Ottumwa, Iowa. Later she earned a BSN from William Jewell College. Marilyn’s range of nursing skills included obstetrics (not a favorite), emergency room, cardiac care in one of the first cardiac care units at University of Iowa, hospital medical surgical units, CNA and LPN instructor at St Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, director of continuing education at Truman East in Kansas City, Missouri where she kept all the hospital employees up to date on CPR, infection control and other certifications. Marilyn retired as a phlebotomist for Community Blood Bank in Blue Springs, Missouri.
After retirement, Marilyn applied her knowledge and gifts as an active member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church in Independence, Missouri. While serving on the parish council, was head usher and wrote procedures for others to use including post COVID and security measures. Some of her favorite volunteer activities were the annual rummage sale and a cigar booth at the mouse races for Nativity School. She also hosted and decorated tables for Tables by Design to raise funds for the Good Samaritan Center in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Marilyn was so blessed to have a wonderful circle of friends from neighborhood, work and church.
Marilyn became an avid Chiefs and Royals fan after moving to Independence, Missouri. However, her greatest love was for all things cats! Cat pictures, cat blankets, cat coffee cups and of course her own cats. She also pampered her little dogs Monique and Bugsy and her cats, Tasha, Midge, Savanah, Chickadee, and her dear Tinker.
Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am Saturday June 7, 2025, St Joseph's Cabrine Parish, 1174 Reed Av East Pleasant Plain, Iowa with Inurnment St Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends on hour prior to the mass at the church. Family will also have a Memorial gathering Saturday June 14, 2025, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm with a Rosary service starting at 1:00pm at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 10021 E 36th Terrace S, Independence, Missouri 64052. in Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts to Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, Alzheimer's Association, or Wayside Waifs.
