

Marjorie J. Hensley, 86, Raytown, Missouri, died on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Kansas City Hospice House after a long illness. She was born on Nov. 27, 1924, in Waverly, Missouri, to Edward and Minnie (Hauschild) Johnson. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1943, and worked for the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C., during World War II. After returning to Kansas City, she worked in various secretarial jobs, and married the love of her life, Louis Judson Hensley Jr., in 1963. L.J. preceded her in death in 1977. Marjorie was also preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Minnie; sisters Eddy Pack, Helen Johnson and Hulda Stockham; brother Albert Johnson; nieces Jan Fey and Arlene Hooper; and nephews Gene Pack and Paul Johnson. She is survived by a brother, George Johnson and wife Rosemary, Raytown; sister Julia Wingate, Raytown; niece Michele Janchar, Overland Park, who was like a daughter to her; Michele’s husband Jim Janchar and daughters Micaela and Laura Flick; son Mark Hensley and wife Barbara, Raymore; grandsons Matthew Hensley, Overland Park; Jimmy Hensley and wife Heather, Fort Worth, Texas; and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Hensley, also of Fort Worth. She is also survived by nieces Julie Ann Cornwell, Raytown; Vickie Church (Galen), Lexington, Missouri; Kim Goodlove (Duane), Burlington, Kansas; Sondra Johnson, Kansas City; and Debbie Johnson (Gary Piercy), Grain Valley; nephews Michael Wingate (Tina), Bauxite, Arkansas; and Jimmy Pack, Sedalia, Missouri; and many great-nieces and nephews. Marjorie was a loving mother, a loyal friend, and a kind and generous person. Strong but gentle, tough yet compassionate, she was the epitome of what is known as the Greatest Generation. We will miss her dearly. Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. The family suggests donations to Kansas City Hospice House, where Marjorie received exemplary care in her final days.
