Mark was preceded in death by his parents Harry D. Lilly, Sr and Martha L (Bealor) Lilly, his brother Harry D. Lilly, Jr.
Mark is survived by two brothers Daron (Donna) Lilly of Lucasville, Ohio and John Lilly of Dayton, Ohio, as well as his sister Fonda Brogan (Lilly) of Beavercreek, Ohio. Three nieces, Marisa (Concrete), Devan (Country) and Taylor, one nephew, Derek, numerous cousins and his Church family & friends. Although Mark was somewhat reclusive and not always sociable, even with his siblings, we choose to remember our brother as a very talented, multi-faceted and self-taught individual.
He started driving at the age of two when he decided to put his father's tractor in gear and proceeded to side swipe the big oak tree, tipping the tractor over. Fortunately, he came out unscathed, having fallen under the steering wheel. It probably helped that our grandmother had a well-established direct line with the Lord, asking for his mercy when she realized what was happening. His interest in mechanics continued into high school. He worked on our father's 1938 Bantam until he had it running. He drove it around town and to school until the day he decided to take it for a spin around the neighborhood. With his siblings on board, he executed a perfect right-side wheelly, once again finding his driving privileges taken away. After high school, Mark taught himself to do car body work and painting, specializing on Corvettes. He worked in Dayton's best custom design shops. Finally tiring of unfiltered, under ventilated conditions, he attended Sinclair Community College earning an associate degree in Allied Health.
Mark, at the age of 27, was re-introduced, through his brother's friends, to the ministry of The Reorganized Latter Day Saints Church. Spending time in the Independence, Missouri area, Mark met many influential people of the church and started studying the Church's foundational three books. Based on his studies, Mark moved to Independence around 1980. His faith continued to grow over the years. Now a member of The Living Hope Church, Mark will be remembered as the member who sat in the front row, with headphones, so he could hear every word. Mark's faith in the Lord was witnessed by anyone who listened and communicated with him. For that reason, we believe, whatever trials he experienced throughout his life and the ill health he had been experiencing over the last couple months are now replaced by healing and the joy of being with his Lord.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.McGilleySheil.com for the Lilly family.
