To the family of Mark Pratt
The Omaha District family was sadden by the unexpected passing of Mark. I would like to share the work history that Mark provided to our great country. Mark was an outstanding employee and highly respected by his teammates.  
Mark graduated from Bellevue University in June 2002 with a 3.4 GPA in Computer Information Systems.
In May of 2003 Mark began his career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Omaha District. He started as a GS-5 student hire within Engineering Division.  Mark assisted in the development of software that allowed the Engineers to manage their work through the design process.
In Sept of 2003 Mark was quickly promoted to a GS-7 because of his excellent skills and work effort. Mark moved to the Information Management section within the Omaha District and continued his support on various computer systems. 
 In November 2005 Mark was promoted again within a short span of two years to a GS-9.  Mark was now part of the Military Programs and Project Management Branch supporting the Districts Military Engineering and Construction program. Mark was involved in providing project scheduling expertise to the Project Managers who in turn could communicate project status to senior leadership within the District as well as the Air Force and Army.  During this time frame the Army was executing the Army Transformation Program which was an extensive build up and modernization of Military facilities.
In October of 2006, Mark transferred to the Kansas City District and again was quickly promoted in June of 2007 to a GS-11.  Mark was providing similar support to the Military Programs Management Branch within Kansas City.
In November of 2007, Mark transferred back the Omaha District to support the Rapid Response Program Office which was located at Offutt AFB, NE.  Mark was able to maintain his residence in Kansas City and telework.  Mark was a key individual within the Rapid Response team providing project scheduling and communication for a varied and fast pace execution team. Mark was involved in highly sensitive projects such as: Post hurricane Katrina levee repairs and hazardous waste clean-up in New Orleans, LA; Security upgrades to DoD recruiting centers across the United States; Renovation of military fueling systems worldwide; Environmental cleanup of EPA Superfund sites; Security enhancements to key U.S. infrastructure; Improvements to the FEMA emergency broadcast network; and hundreds of other projects.  
Mark also was a team member of the Corps of Engineering's national project management team that was responsible for developing and testing new software improvements.  Mark was a pioneer in the development and subsequent training of the USACE PROMIS scheduling system.
You can be proud to be a part of Mark's accomplishments at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Mark will be deeply missed, however his work legacy will remain.

Gail and Mark's family...

I was saddened to hear the news of Mark's passing.  As so many others have shared, Mark was a great and loyal friend.  I was always impressed by his patience and kindness.  His was a spiritual and blessed life.  I appreciated our conversations and his sound advice.  Mark certainly had discipline and a special gift for the technical tools we depend on and so often take for granted.  I will miss our regular calls.

I wish Gail and the girls the very best as you make your way through life without the presence of this very special fellow.  God bless you all.

My best friend...I love you so much.  As always...I will be here for you.  You and Mark have always been the most unselfish people that I know.  You opened your home and hearts to many foster children whom I'm sure you both will forever be etched into the hearts of

Mark Pratt was one of the most loyal friends that you could have. He was an individual that you could count on if you were ever in need of assistance that was in his wheel house of expertise. Additionally, he was a kind and thoughtful individual who would never attempt to harm another human being, even if that individual had wronged him.He loved his wife and the kids that he chose to share his life with. 

While we had not worked with each other for over ten years, we remained in reasonably frequent contact via phone. I remain indebted to him for the friendship, mutual respect and assistance that we shared for more than a decade.

Gail I was sad to hear this news. Prayers for you and the family.

I am at a complete loss!! Mark, you were one of the best people I know, best foster parent I have worked with. May you rest in peace and know that you were loved by many. My heart truly breaks for Gail and the girls.  Big hugs and prayers Gail, Debbie and Torie!!

Kd and I will miss you so much. You have brought wisdom, love, and ambition to our family. You supported our family whenever we needed. Thank you, Love you!
