Matt was born on October 28, 1956; diligently served his country in the Air Force from 1974-1979; and then with the Mission, Kansas Police Department from 1980-1986; and finally with the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department from 1986 until he retired after 28 years of service in 2014.
Matt is survived by his wife, Cathy; five children: daughter Christina Healy Fillpot, son Shawn (Stephanie) Healy, son Michael (Jillian) Healy, daughter Keli (Riki) Bennett, son Matt (Audrey) Healy; as well as nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers and numerous extended family.
Matt was a devout Chiefs and Royals fan, as well as a certified pilot in his free time. He enjoyed flying with friends and family whenever he could. He loved movies, and could often be found passing an afternoon with his kids and grandkids watching scary movies, Disney animations, and everything in between. Matt had an ornery streak a mile wide, which he has graciously passed on to his kids and grandkids who find great amusement and joy in pulling pranks on their loved ones, just as he did.
