Mary Elizabeth Hirt Ax, 66, of Roeland Park, KS died June 9, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, June 14 at Guardian Angels Church, 1310 Westport Rd., KCMO. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Monday at the church, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS
Mary was born December 27, 1949 in Kansas City, MO to Paul and Dolores (Hauber) Hirt. Mary went to Bishop Miege High School, Avila College and University of Wisconsin. She was a teacher in Kansas City, Los Angeles and Madison, WI school systems. After retiring, she was a caregiver to members in her parish. Mary was a meticulous gardener (ask her family), did wonderful needlepoint and was a big Royals fan. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Joe, her parents and step- daughter Jamie Ax. Mary’s survivors include four sisters, Dolores, Fran, Chris and Anne; brothers Paul and Michael and many nieces and nephews.
