Visitation is at 9:30 am Monday, Feb. 2, at Cure of Ars Church, 9401 Mission Rd, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 am, and burial at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Seton Center, Rockhurst High School or the Brian Patrick Euston Foundation.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Ken, along with her parents Thomas and Ruth (Donigan) Walsh, brother Michael Walsh, and grandson Brian Euston.
She is survived by her six sons: Mike and daughter-in-law Maureen, Jim and daughter-in-law Terrie, Dan, Tom and daughter-in-law Sally, Gerry and daughter-in-law Connie, and Kevin and daughter-in-law Kathy; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; her sister Ellen (Walsh) Maxwell of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was born in Kansas City and attended St. Vincent’s Academy and the College of St. Teresa. As a young woman, she was a model and secretary at Nelly Don clothing. After marrying in 1942, she and Ken were stationed at Love Field in Dallas; Lubbock, Texas; Alliance, Neb.; and Goldsboro, N.C., as Ken completed U.S. Army Air Corp training. Mary Ann played a key role at Euston Hardware, the business she founded with Ken and four sons in 1970.
Mary Ann was an avid gardener and remodeler. But her greatest loves were her husband and six boys. She provided encouragement, medical attention and much-needed discipline. She furnished meals on the run and chauffeured kids to countless practices, games and events. She loved hosting dinners or card games for family and friends, and there was always room for another hungry visitor or bad poker player. She often entertained with tales about her cousins from Ireland, who lived with her grandparents on South Benton. Mary Ann was blessed with a large family who loved her and many dear lifelong friends. All will miss her.
