

Mary Michelle “Shelly” Becker, 53, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 at her home. The Rosary will be prayed Thursday, October 24th, at 4:00 p.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes, Kansas City, MO, followed by the visitation until 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 25th, 1:00 p.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery.
Shelly was born December 4, 1959, in Kansas City, MO, to Frank and Mary Schorgl. She attended Saint Thomas More Catholic Grade School and graduated from St. Teresa’s Academy in 1978. She attended St. Louis University and graduated in 1982. In her early years, Shelly became quite an accomplished equestrian, winning many hunter jumper competitions throughout the Midwest. After graduating college with a degree in computer science, she began a career that included working twenty years for Sprint, but family was the most important thing to Shelly. Raising her three children with husband Joe, in Nativity Catholic Parish were the happiest years of her life. Shelly never failed to liven things up when she entered a room, and her enthusiasm was contagious. Shelly was a beloved woman, cherished mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She touched so many people in her life, and she will be forever missed.
Shelly is survived by her husband, Joseph Becker; her children, Kelly Anne, Jimmy and Jack; her parents, Frank and Mary Schorgl; her sister, Holly Kombrink; nephews, Ryan and Sam Kombrink; her brother, Dutch Schorgl and wife Kelly Jo; nieces, Lainee and Erica Schorgl, and nephew, Nick Schorgl; her brother, Dan Schorgl and wife Julie; nephews, Bryan and Grant Schorgl, and niece, Amy Schorgl; and her brother, John Schorgl and wife Allison; niece, Annie Schorgl, and nephew, Aidan Schorgl. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Ginny Schorgl and her grandparents, Francis and Marie Schorgl and Otto and Helen Hodes. Shelly will be missed by all who knew her. May she now find peace with the Lord.
