

Mary M. “Peggy” Scofield, 84, of Raymore Missouri went to be with the Lord on February 6, 2012. She was preceded in death by only 17 days by her husband of 64 years, Myrl R. Scofield. Also preceding her in death are her father Roy L. Wright, her mother Margaret E. Wright; also her sisters Mertis Lowry and Betty Chase. She leaves her son, Richard A. Scofield, of the home. She has eleven nieces, eight nephews, fourteen great-nieces, twelve great nephews, eight great-great nieces, and eleven great-great nephews. Peggy’s life was characterized by unselfish love and service to her family, her church, and anyone who knew or needed her. She was a member of Prairie Baptist Church for 40 years, and for the last 20 years was a member of the Colonial Presbyterian Church. She was involved in putting on countless events through her churches. You could say she fed thousands. She also assisted her husband in his American Baptist lay ministry, travelling regionally and locally to teach the gospel. She worked for the Social Security Administration in the late 50’s. From ’68 through ’74 she worked at Schaffer Enterprises as a computer operator and programmer. While there she developed lifelong friendships with four other ladies who continued meeting for lunch monthly for 36 years. Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, at Colonial Presbyterian Church, Quivira campus, 12501 W. 137th Street, Overland Park, Kansas, 66221, followed by funeral services to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
