Mary Margaret (Portwood) Thorpe, 78, of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away on Sunday July 27, 2003. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1310 Westport Road. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:00 on Tuesday at the Church where the rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. A private family burial will be held Wednesday morning. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation in Mary’s name.
Mary was born on October 24, 1924 in Liberty, Missouri and was a lifelong area resident. She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, James B. Thorpe, in 1975. Survivors include her children and their spouses; Kevin and Debbie Thorpe, Lynn and Tom Keegan, Brian and Marie Thorpe, Donald and Debbie Thorpe, Karen Langton; 7 grandsons and 3 granddaughters.
