Max Harrison Warren, 97 years old, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away January 23, 2017.
Max was born in Lucerne, Missouri on July 4, 1920 to Millard Marion Warren and Mary Susan (Pollock) Warren. Max lived a rural life until his late teens when he moved to Kansas City in the early 1940’s and joined the Kansas City Power and Light Company in the sales division and transferred to the Systems Operation Division and retiring in 1982.
His retirement years were filled with endless golf games, he took up jogging, volunteering and traveling with his beloved wife of 67 years, Bettie. Together they made trips to Hawaii, England, Switzerland, Italy and many road trips with dear friends in the U.S. There were many winter trips to Florida and great times in Maine with the whole family.
Max’s devotion to his family was the core of his being. His four children and wife were the beneficiaries of his love and talents his whole life. Sadly, Max & Bettie lost their youngest son, Mark, at age 36 in 1994. Later on in life Max became the primary care giver for Bettie as she endured the traumas of Alzheimer’s. With the assistance of excellent in-home care he was able to keep her at home until just a few weeks of her death in February, 2013. After her passing there was a part of his heart that died with her. He maintained their home for a few years in Leawood and then moved to an elder care facility in Overland Park.
He will be mourned and missed by many, especially his surviving family: his daughter, Ms. Jan (Warren) Barnett of Leawood, KS; his daughter, Mrs. Pamela (Warren) Westfall & Dr. Wayne Westfall of Parkville, MO; his son, Mr. Aaron Lynn Warren of North Palm Beach, Florida; his grandson, Dr. Adam Westfall & Lauren Westfall & great-granddaughter, Charlotte Westfall of Parkville, MO. His granddaughter, Mrs. Erin (Westfall) Head & Andy Head & great-grandchildren, Molly, Max and, Mikaela Head of Weston, MO.
