

A Memorial service for Merrill Edward “Ed” Denzin, 77, of Leawood, KS, will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131. Ed was beloved by his family and many friends. He passed away June 22, 2015 in Scottsdale, AZ where he spent much of his time in his retirement years. He was noted for his dynamic personality, unprecedented kindness, trustworthiness, and honesty. He loved fishing, boating, hunting and spending time with his family and many friends. He was an exceptional dancer, and a lover of music. He was of the Lutheran faith.
As a young man he graduated from Grandview High School, where he held the distinction of Class president both his Junior and Senior years. He graduated from Midland College in Fremont, NE where he attended on a football scholarship. After college he started working for Ford Motor Company in Nebraska. He went on to work for DCI DENCO INC., A Vanguard Fire Home Protection CO., where he held the Title of President. He then went on to his 25 year career as a sales representative and manager in the wholesale clothing industry, being named “Salesman of the Year” for 10 of those years. He spent the last 13 years before he retired as an insurance agent for Conseco Insurance Company, winning several awards, and held a seat on the Presidents Council for Capitol American Insurance Company. In addition he was the Co-owner of Denzin’s Bridal Designs for 13 years. He eventually retired, but was never idle. After retirement, he started W&M Professional Enterprises, PLLC, an Electrical Company based in Scottsdale, AZ, where he held the position of President. He was a wonderful man, husband, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, holding a special place in the hearts of many. He will be greatly missed.
Ed was preceded in death by his loving parents Carl and Dorothy Denzin.
He is survived by the love of his life Barbara Denzin, his brother Rick Denzin, and his loving children: Marc Denzin, Paul Denzin (Susan), Jill Denzin Ceman (Richard), Beth DiCostanzo (Sal), Julie Mills (Bill), and Hal Woodhead. Ed is also survived by his grandchildren: Derik Denzin, Savannah Denzin, Dante DiCostanzo, Mia Bella DiCostanzo , Sophia Ceman, Noah Ceman, Robert McNeely II, John McNeely, Genesis and Veronica Rojas Sanchez, and great grandchildren: Kenzie, Valerie and Lois.
