

Michael Fields, 57, was born July 6, 1953 to Robert L. Fields Sr. and Doris Jean (Thompson) Fields in Kansas City, Missouri. His father and brother, Robert Fields, Jr. preceded him in death. Michael was a lifelong resident and attended the Kansas City, Missouri public schools. He was a graduate of Central High School in the class of “1972.” Later he graduated from Rockhurst University with a degree in Business Administration in 1981. Michael accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in 1961 at the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. E. H. Branch. He attended Sunday School, Baptist Training Union and was teacher in the Junior department of the Sunday School, he was a Christian Worker, Usher and also Director of the Children Church for sixteen years. He truly loved working with the youth and young people in the church, his desire for all of them to fear God and be the best that they could be for the Lord. Michael was united in marriage to the former Cynthia May on March 10, 1979. To this union three children were born, Gabriel, DeAnn, and Brittany. He was formerly employed at General Motors, Sunshine Biscuits and Internal Revenue Service. He was currently employed with American Family Insurance. In 2009 Michael received a promotion and relocated to Marietta, Georgia. Michael was a loving son, husband, father, brother, nephew and uncle whom many family members appreciated his wisdom, business savvy and affection. He enjoyed vacationing with his family, spontaneous trips with wife, reading, and playing golf. He never met a stranger, and will be greatly missed by all. He departed this life on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 in Marietta, Georgia. He leaves to cherish his memory wife Cynthia Fields of Marietta, Georgia; son Gabriel (Jamie) Fields of North Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters DeAnn (Fields) Toombs and Brittany Fields of Marietta, Georgia; his mother Doris Fields; sister Dorri Fields; brother Gregory Fields; eight grandchildren Madison, Michael Lawrence, Maya, Ciara, Gabriella, Gabriel Jr., Aedin, and Caedin; mother-in-law Flora Johnson; father-in-law Lawrence May, Sr.; two sisters-in-law Eve May and Petra Penn; one brother-in-law Lawrence May, Jr.; a special aunt Mae Dee Reed; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 13, at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, 2310 E. Linwood Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri.
