

Mike was born on a Saturday, February 22, 1947. To Emilienne and Alfonso Tamayo in Kansas City. He went to Catholic schools and he got his letter for band in 1962. Graduated from Rockhurst High School in Kansas City 1965. Mike retired from The United States Postal Service after serving 34 years. Amazing co-worker and friend. Kind giving man with a lot of knowledge. Mike could tell you names, dates, years of events. Who sang a song or year of the movie. HE Listened to Hannity and was a devout Republican. "Trump" was his man. Mike was a Chapter Member for National WWll Museum in New Orleans. He also loved Canadian Football.
"Mr. Mike" is what he would call himself and laugh. Mike loved Jazz music watching Law and Order and Highway to Heaven (ReRuns) (YOUTUBE) Watching the moon, listening to the birds chirp, dogs barking. Walking in the park. Visiting different Catholic Churches as he had strong Faith. Yes he enjoyed his 20 oz steak whether T-bone or Rib Eye especially on his birthday. Mike stayed up all night slept all day! He would call his "Chosen Family" at 3am and expect you to talk for an hour! Mike would visit for hours with 'Roxy', 'Brige-ay', Ryan, Jackson, and William at family brunches and dinners. He loved FOOD. Home Cooked or Restaurant. Mike was truly an amazing person. Yet quiet at times. We already miss him. He was so looking forward to his fish and shrimp dinners for six weeks of Lent...... Mike was preceded in death by his parents Emilienne and Alfonso Tamayo.
Mike leaves his "Chosen Family", Beverly Andersen of the home, Raquel and Jack Lockwood, Whitney and Jackson Lockwood, Bridjett and Dan Ogrizovic, William Ogrizovic, Ryan Andersen, Courtney and Eric Gant, and Jack and Camryn Gant; amazing friends, Ursula Dunwend, Catherine Ross, and Connie Parks; and a few cousins.

A Services for Michel will be held Friday, March 7, 2025 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. A visitation will begin a 1:00pm with a celebration of life following from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. An entombment will conclude services at Mount Moriah Cemetery from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
