Named by her adoring father, “My Michelle” graced this world on a rainy full moon Saturday evening. The oldest of four children born to Dan and Nancy Warren in O’Fallon, Missouri, Michelle lived a childhood rooted from the salt of the Earth. Her time on St. Leo Drive served as the blueprint for the life that she led.
Growing up, Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings were spent water skiing the slough and riding the barge waves of the mighty Mississippi. There was no place on earth Michelle would rather have been than on the boat riding first mate to her favorite two captains; her dad and her brother. She gifted her children with a life on the water just as she had. Their times at the lake will be a treasure Anna and Ben will always hold dear and will always have.
Raised on her grandma’s fried chicken and grandpa’s bar-be-que pork steaks, Michelle continued the tradition of Sunday dinner with her children. She believed that a good meal with good people soothes the soul. Drawing from her culinary skills and small-town hospitality, all that gathered around her table were welcomed with joy and laughter. This culminated in the opening of Blue Grotto, a neighborhood restaurant in Brookside, based upon exactly that.
From a long lineage of crafters and builders, she honed her inherited creativity towards fashioning remarkable homemade Halloween costumes and birthday cakes that are what childhood dreams are made of. With her impeccable style and passion for interior design, she lovingly made an inviting, warm home for her children no matter her budget. Her ultimate display of creativity came to fruition the day she and her sister signed the papers to open Billingsley Warren Design.
Michelle lived a life of “keeping the faith”, which is her heritage. But her greatest attributes came from her amazingly joyful and unique spirit. She gave without expectation- not expecting anything in return for her kindness. Never to judge, Michelle exemplified grace and compassion. She loved her children fiercely, with a lion’s heart. Her strength when facing the deepest challenges never wavered. Her resilience was astonishing. She was a warrior for her own. She left this world for a place that better deserves her. She was beautiful, she was kind, and most certainly she was, and always will be, “World Class.”
At this time, we ask that all donations made in honor of Michelle be given to an account established to care for her children. Anna and Ben are so loved.
