Mildred Young Riedesel, (Bobbie as she was called), was born April 3rd, 1927 in Pueblo, Colorado, daughter of Hugh and Alma Fisher, the youngest of five children.
Bobbie worked 10 years for AT&T where she met the love of her life Joseph Walter Riedesel. The two were married on July 19th, 1951 and resided in Kansas City, Missouri and New Jersey before retiring back here in 1988 to be near family.
Bobbie was mostly a stay at home wife and mother though she had some part-time jobs at the bank and craft store to help pay for her children’s private Christian school education. Having been raised in a Godly Christian home, and having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior, Bobbie modeled and taught her children the principles and values of God’s Word.
A long time member of Bethany Baptist Church in northeast Kansas City, Bobbie was active in the church and worked on the PTA at her children’s school. During her retirement years, Bobbie and Joe attended Christ Community of Leawood and enjoyed the teaching of God’s Word!
During her retirement years, Bobbie was an avid gardener who shared her beautiful flowers and start ups with neighbors and friends. Some of which included decorations for weddings and arrangements for civic events.
Bobbie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed not just her family, but her many friends as well!
She was loved and will be remembered fondly by many! On behalf of the family, thanks to all who prayed, stopped by to visit and helped Bobbie especially in her final days. You each were a blessing to her and to Joe!
She was preceded in death by her brothers Joe Fisher, Jasper Fisher, George Fisher and sister Virginia Tilletson, all of Kansas City, Missouri. Bobbie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joe W. Riedesel, of Leawood, Kansas; brother Don Fisher of Gainesville, Georgia son Glen E. Riedesel, his wife Annettia, and their children Joseph, Dustin, Adam and Katie; and daughter Elizabeth Ann Sager, her husband Randy and Liz’s children Sean, Amy and Brett. Also survived by four great-grandchildren Emma, David, Olivia and Josylynn. Condolences may be offered at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com.
