

Mildred E. (Skoog) Thompson passed away February 3, 2017 at Brookdale of Overland Park, KS. Mildred was born in Kansas City, MO, December 26, 1918, the daughter of August and Sigrid Skoog. She was raised in Kansas City and graduated from Paseo High School, Class of 1936. Mildred married George A. Thompson, Jr. on October 12, 1940.
George and Millie lived in New York City early in their marriage, where Millie worked for Bell Telephone Co. while George was in the Merchant Marines. After a short time in New York, they moved back to Kansas City, where they lived the rest of their lives. On March 15, 1951 their daughter Barbara was born. George and Millie were long time members of Milburn Country Club where Millie enjoyed playing golf with the Women’s group. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Royals and the Chiefs and especially the Kansas Jayhawks. After her daughter finished school, Millie went back to work. She was a long time office manager for Bartholow Office Supply. After her retirement from Bartholow’s, Millie enjoyed 18 years of volunteer work at St. Joseph’s Hospital. George and Millie were members of Colonial Presbyterian Church.
Millie was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was GG to her great-granddaughter, Julia. She had a love for dogs, especially her two Schnauzers, Maggie and Crystal. She loved angels and is now surrounded by them.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband George (1994), two sisters, and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Sheridan-Barnes and her husband Ron; her grandson, Chad Sheridan and his wife Kindra; her great-granddaughter, Julia Sheridan; along with several nieces and nephews.
