

Nolan was born on December 15, 1938 in Pattonsburg, Missouri to Charles D. and Celia Mae Salmon Plymell. Nolan, his dad and his brother Bob worked the farm in Bethany raising crops and cattle. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister.
Nolan graduated in 1956 from Southwest Harrison High School in Bethany , Missouri.
After graduation, he served six months active duty with the US Army. He then applied to work at Hallmark cards on December 26, 1957 and started working the next day, and remaining there until his retirement in February 1997. In his retirement, he loved his job mowing , groundskeeping and maintenance at Raintree Lake.
He was blessed to meet Judy Hyatt at Hallmark. Judy and Nolan were married on June 4, 1961 in Holden, Missouri . They celebrated 64 years of marriage on June 4, 2025.
Nolan was dedicated to his family and friends. He enjoyed working outdoors, working on and admiring cars, doing woodworking , fixing anything around the house for himself and others , and traveling with the family and “The AARP Group”. He traveled with the Blue Ridge Boulevard United Methodist Church on work camp and mission trips where he earned the nickname “Rockin’ Rollin’ Strollin’ Nolan”.
With his quiet but quick wit, he cherished every moment he could spend with Judy, his family and friends.
Nolan is survived by his wife, Judy, of Lee’s Summit, his daughters Tracey Plymell of St. Louis, Missouri and Kelli (Scott )Carr of Liberty, Missouri ; his grandchildren Conner Carr of Orlando, Florida and Courtney (Gunnar) Gronberg of Kansas City; and treasured extended family and friends.
