Norma Rebecca "Becky" (Newcomb) Tinsley, 68, of Independence, MO passed away on April 20, 2019 at her home. She was born May 10, 1950 in Knoxville, TN to William and Flora Newcomb. She was raised in Knoxville, where she graduated from Bearden High School in 1968. She moved to Nashville after graduation and on to Kansas City in 1971, residing in Independence. Becky's work career took her to U.S. Engineering, Arrow Truck Sales and Serco (DHS). It was at Arrow Truck Sales that she met the love of her life, Jerry, in 1994. Becky and Jerry married in 2000 in Panama City, FL.
Becky volunteered for Groves Community Hospice after retiring from Serco in 2015. She loved home decorating, making flower arrangements and wreaths, antiquing to add to her collection, and cooking, most recently mastering bread baking. She had a green thumb and could grow anything, always having a perfectly manicured yard every year. She loved the beach and loved to sunbathe. She enjoyed reading, especially her Bible. She enjoyed going to church to worship on Sunday's at Coventry Estates Baptist Church. Becky's proudest accomplishment was her family and close friends, especially her children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings Dora Keener, Randy Newcomb, William "Buddy" Newcomb, Barbara "Bobbie" Davis, James "Jimmy" Newcomb, Sarah "Tiny" Hildebrandt and Helen Swain.
Becky is survived by her husband Gerald W. Tinsley, of the home; son Marc D. Patterson (Jamie) of Fuquay-Varina, NC; daughter Valarie R. Ewen (Dean) of Lake St. Louis, MO; son Clayton W. Timmons (Alexandra) of Independence, MO; step daughter Sara K. Tinsley of West Palm Beach, FL; granddaughter Samantha R. Glassford of Lake St. Louis, MO; grandsons Darin "Bayley" Wood of Lake St. Louis, MO; Kaden A. Patterson and Kobe D.J. Patterson, both of Fuquay-Varina, NC; five step grandchildren, Tad, Tyler, John, Curtis and Tony; sisters Joanne "Jodie" Ellison and Callie M. Jones, both of Knoxville, TN; countless numbers of nieces, nephews, cherished friends, and her beloved dog, Lilly.
A Celebration of Life will be 11am, Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Coventry Estates Baptist Church, 17133 E. 39th St. S, Independence, MO. A reception will follow at the Voorheis Vale Clubhouse, 12808 E. 48th St. S, Independence, MO.
