Norma Lea Rhoades, age 87, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on November 4, 2023. Norma was born on September 4, 1936, and was the youngest of seven siblings. She was a stickler for the rules. Norma was always impeccably dressed, five minutes early for any event, and always had a house that was sparkling clean.
Norma had a true love for cats and took immaculate care of her furry companions. In the kitchen, she was a whiz and a genius, with desserts being her specialty.
Norma and her beloved husband Bill embarked on many travel adventures, exploring places from Alaska to Arizona. Although flying wasn't her favorite, she braved it for the sake of their travels. They were social butterflies and always kept busy with various clubs and activities at the senior center. Norma cherished the peace of their lake house and could often be found enjoying a homemade lemonade on the porch on beautiful days.
Norma is survived by her sons, Richard Rhoades and Robert Rhoades, her beloved caretaker Susan Hodges, ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Essie Constable and Harry Stevens, her brothers Harry 'Junior' Stevens, Charles Stevens, and Billy Stevens, her sisters Bonnie Baker, Betty Kuhns, and Edena Lewin, her husband Bill Rhoades, her son Steve Rhoades, and her grandson Steven Rhoades.
In her professional life, Norma worked as a cook at the Hickman Mills School District for many years, leaving a lasting impact on the students she served. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping, gatherings with beloved friends, puzzles, true crime stories, celebrity gossip, and had a fondness for swans.
