Norman L. Grimes, 75, of Odessa, MO passed away July 4, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation on Tues., July 9th from 6-8pm at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel (11924 E. 47th St., KCMO 64133). Funeral service 11am Wed. at the chapel with interment following in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Norman was born July 23, 1937 in KCMO to Carl & Dorothy Grimes. He was united in marriage to Lucy Birgam on Feb. 25, 1955. Norman was a KC Fire Fighter; retiring in 1999 after 40 years of service. Before his retirement Norman & Tony Valenti were the two oldest active fire fighters for the KCFD. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim Grimes & a sister, Debbie Grimes. He is survived by his wife, Lucy of the home; his children, Linda Dillon (Scott) of Pleasant Hill, MO, George Grimes (Karla) of Oak Grove, MO, Elaine Trebisovski (David) of Grain Valley, MO, Steve Grimes (Denise) of KCMO, Cheri Shaw (Kerry) of Bates City, MO; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Carl ‘Joe’ Grimes of KCMO & a sister, Kathy Peterson of Scottsdale, AZ.
