

Patricia M. Hobbs, 58, of Kansas City, MO went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 8th after a long and valiant battle with scleroderma and pulmonary hypertension. To the end, Patti demonstrated with grace how to trust God’s plan for her life. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00p.m. Thursday, October 10th, at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home, 11924 E. 47th St, Kansas City, MO. Memorial services will be held at Sterling Acres Baptist Church, 11200 E. 47th Street, Kansas City, MO 64133 on Friday, October 11th at 10:00a.m. Burial will be at Longview Cemetery in Lee’s Summit.
Patti was born to Clarence and Sarah Brands on February 6, 1955. She grew up in Raytown before moving in her junior year of high school to Odessa, MO, where she met the love of her life, Doug. Patti and Doug were married August 18, 1973 and moved back to the Raytown area, where they were blessed with three children – Kevin, Sara and Matthew. As her children got older, Patti began a career in the children’s ministry. She served at her church, New Haven Baptist, in Mother’s Day Out, Sunday School and the children’s worship ministry. She later worked at Agape preschool for several years and ended her career in the Raytown School District in early childhood. Patti was the happiest spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She was a member of Sterling Acres Baptist Church and wished to express her gratitude for the prayers and visits from her church family and Christian friends. The family would also like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital on the plaza and the St. Luke’s Hospice House for the loving and exceptional care they provided.
She was preceded in death by her Mother. She is survived by her husband Doug; children Kevin (Sarra) Hobbs, Sara (Josh) Harrell, Matthew (Dana) Hobbs; grandchildren Courtney, Addison & Mackenzie Hobbs, Austin and Ava Harrell, Trenton and Gabriel Hobbs; her father Clarence (Essie) Brands; brothers Mike (Janice) Brands, Duane (Teresa) Brands.
