Patricia Sue Hopkins was born May 1, 1949 to Harvey L. and Lillian M. Kelley in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Research College of Nursing in 1974. Her nursing career and the kindness she poured into others expands for decades. She worked in psychiatric and geriatric nursing retiring after nearly forty years.
Patty’s greatest love and the loves of her life were her two children, Scott and Mary. She instilled in them what it took to be dependable, hardworking and dedicated to what was most important in life. She loved the ocean in St. Augustine, FL, the lake, traveling, flowers, family and friends. Patty was a passionate reader of history and biographies. She could have a conversation about anything. Her infectious smile and laughter would light up any room and warm your heart. She was very passionate about life and lived it large. Making fond memories was her goal. She left an everlasting loving impression on everyone.
Patty is survived by her son, Scott Johnston (Eva) of Kansas City, Missouri; her daughter Mary Scahill of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Mary Kelley Kryzwick (Peter)
of St. Augustine, Florida; one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Johnston of Kansas City, Kansas; and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center in honor of Patty Hopkins.
A special thanks to Dr. Sara Lange and her staff for their kindness to the very end.
