Pauline Augustina Mendoza, 77, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on January 6, 2011. A prayer service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 10 at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, Missouri. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
Pauline was born on August 28, 1933, in Hillsboro, Texas, the daughter of Jesse and Francis Galvan. Pauline retired from the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, first as a baker in Rozelle Court and later in the Maintenance Department. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond Galvan; grandchildren, Matthew Mendoza, Vanessa Mendoza and Chris Mendoza, Jr.; and longtime friend, Carl Jones. She is survived by 6 sons, Robert Mendoza, Dennis Mendoza Jr., Michael Mendoza and wife Maria, Gilbert Mendoza and wife Frances, Richard Mendoza and wife Rhonda and Chris Mendoza; sister, Ruth Schreiner and husband Donald; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren.
