Funeral services will be at the Floral Hills Funeral Home on Saturday, July 12th, from 10:00 AM -11:00 AM, with burial following. Friends may come prior to the service from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri, 64133, 816-353-1218.
Mrs. Edwards was born on January 29, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was married to Harold Ray Edwards Sr. until his death. She was a graduate of Northeast High School, Kansas City, Mo. She worked in the daycare at Hope Day School in Independence, MO, for several years, making many lifetime friends. After leaving Hope Day School, she was self employed as a childcare provider in her home for several years. Phyllis was loved by everyone she met, having the ability to make friends for life. She gave unconditional love to everyone. She was heard to say several times in her last days, “I just tried to treat people like I wanted to be treated.”
Phyllis was a member of New Hope Church of the Nazarene, where she and her husband enjoyed being greeters and gave hugs to all who attended.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Edwards Sr., parents; Frank and Mary (Page) McLaughlin.
She is survived by her children; Harold Ray Edwards, Jr. (Dana), Stephen Frank Edwards (Karla), Jackie Wayne Edwards, adopted daughter Denise Pace (Matthew), grandson Forrest Hagen (Amy), granddaughter Hannah Shelton (Garrett), and three great grandsons; Benjamin, Trevor and Marcus Hagen.
Phyllis is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, sons and daughters that she loved over the years.
She was everyone’s mom.
