The world lost a wonderful lady on June 2nd. “Poppee” as we all affectionately called her was a trailblazer and a woman way before her time. An empowered human being with a zest for life spending most of her professional career educating and counseling the youth of our city eventually retiring from the Kansas City School District. She had her Master’s degree in education and also was a licensed real estate agent. Poppee was a life long member of the Greek Orhtodox Church of the Annunciation. In 1955 she was crowned “Miss AHEPA” at a Greek beauty contest and that began her continued involvement with the church. She was a past president the daughters of Penelope, a volunteer for the church library, a Sunday School teacher, an active board member and also in the GBCDA bridge club. A stunning, educated and devoted individual who truly believed that anything could be accomplished with hard work and dedication.
