Randall “Randy” Lynn Rowland, 71, passed away peacefully at Saint Luke’s Hospice House on August 18, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Randy was born on October 7, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri.
As a child, Randy loved fishing with his grandfather Jess at their cabin in Osceola, Missouri. Randy was known for his grit and persistence—he spent his life working for himself and always found a way to provide for his family on his own terms. He was an avid sports fan who rarely missed a Chiefs or Royals game. He especially loved cheering on his sons in their boxing careers, traveling across the country to support their fights and proudly guiding them both to become national champions. He was equally proud of his daughter and often spoke of her academic and medical accomplishments. Randy deeply cherished time with his grandchildren and stayed closely connected with them whenever he could.
Randy loved being outdoors and was a familiar sight in his neighborhood, walking with his boom box turned all the way up. He was clever, quick-witted, and fun-loving—he loved a good argument and was always ready with a quick comeback. He made friends easily and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He enjoyed all kinds of music, but especially loved the blues and playing his guitar.
He will be greatly missed by his significant other, Mary Theresa Aquino, and his children, Jesse (Silvery), Chad, and Noria. He is survived by his siblings, Geri Krentel Rowland, Michele (Jim) Cornwell, Kim (Dale) German, Keith (Dulcie) Rowland, and Chris Rowland; his nieces and nephews; and his grandchildren, Jesse Jr., Zach, and Jarin.
He has been reunited with his parents, William “Bill” Rowland and Betty Rowland, his brother Dwayne Rowland, his sister Sheri Laffler, and his beloved dog Lillie.
Services will be held Thursday morning, August 28, 2025, at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO 64145. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM.
In keeping with Randy’s wishes, there will be no viewing, and cremation has taken place.
