

Rex Klair Tattershall was born February 16, 1931, to Charles Houghton Tattershall and Mary Amanda (Alexander) Tattershall, on the family farm southeast of Hamilton, MO. He went to his heavenly home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on May 17, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospice House, spending his final days with his family by his side.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father; his sister, Arisa Lee Newland and her husband Winfred; his brother Linden Dean Tattershall; his brother William Ellsworth Tattershall, and his wife Bonnie.
Rex is survived by his wife of 73 years, Boneva J. Tattershall; his son Charles Tattershall (Elizabeth) of Barnett, MO; his son Michael Tattershall (Sheri) of Lee’s Summit, MO; five grandchildren: Joshua Tattershall; Sarah Tillinghast (Seth); Crystal Hernandez (Daniel); Nathan Tattershall (Kara); Nicole Tattershall; and six great grandchildren: Eliana Tattershall, Eli Tillinghast, Logan Tattershall, Ramona Hernandez, Jude Hernandez, and Ezra Hernandez; his half-brother Frank Werner (Jan); and his sister-in-law Darlene Tattershall.
Rex was a devoted Christian who attended church faithfully, until the past few years in declining health. He attended Evangel Temple in Kansas City, MO for many years, where he served in numerous capacities, including 8 years as a Deacon. He also attended Camp Chapel in Rocky Mount, MO, First Assembly of God in Overland Park, KS, New Life Assembly of God, Oak Grove, MO, and most recently Blue Springs Assembly of God.
Rex served in the Missouri National Guard 35th Division from 1951 – 1953, then entered full time military service with the U.S. Army from 1953 – 1955 serving in post ordinance and heavy track vehicle maintenance.
Rex was a hard worker, twice self-employed, first as owner operator of Conoco service station in Kansas City, and then as a truck driver. He worked at Millard Auto parts, Shelton Tree Service, Western Container Company in Kansas City for 33 years, in multiple supervisory capacities, Cross Pointe Retreat Center, and Premier Docks & Lifts in Rock Mount, MO.
Rex enjoyed family times at his homes in Jackson County and Morgan County Missouri. He loved to help family and friends repair their vehicles and household items, frequently offered helpful advice from his vast experience.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 24th, 2024, to celebrate his life, at Floral Hills in Raytown, MO. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, with the Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Luke’s Hospice House of Kansas City.
