He leaves behind his loving wife Beth Castle and adoring young daughter Rosalynn, as well as a large family in the Kansas City area and many friends in the Seattle area.
Richard was born on September 13, 1960 and grew up in Raytown, Missouri. During his youth, he was active in Scouting, Little League Baseball and Loma Vista Baptist Church. Richard had a sister Cheryl and brothers Mike and Gary. He loved visiting his family at his Grandma's house in Shawnee, Kansas. He loved Christmas Eve at Aunt Dorothy's home. He loved his friends and neighbors.
He was a 1979 graduate of Raytown South High School.
Richard worked at Western Electric/AT&T in Lee's Summit, Missouri before joining the Navy. He served in the US Navy for over 20 years. His service included time aboard the USS Jason, USS Crommelin, USS Ingraham and USS Ogden. He served in the Desert Storm War. He also worked for 10 years at the Everett Naval Station.
Richard had little time in his battle with cancer but was able to bring his family home to Kansas City and visit with extended family and long-time friends during the past few months.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, September 11 at Mt. Moriah Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Military Honors will occur at 7:00pm.
