

Richard R. Gronberg, 73, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Olathe Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Avenue, Leawood, Kansas, with reception to follow. Mr. Gronberg is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn; daughter Cheryl and husband Tim Speed; son Steve and wife Marie Gronberg; three grandchildren Sara and Nick Speed, Vincent Gronberg; and brother John and wife Connie Gronberg. Survivors also include several nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Mr. Gronberg received his B.S. in Chemistry from University of Missouri – Kansas City & retired in 2000 from Bayer Corp, after 42 years as a Research Scientist. He was heavily involved with many organizations throughout the Kansas City community. He was a member of the Missouri Association of Hospital Auxiliaries, the AF & AM of the Shawnee Masonic Lodge - Kansas, the Missouri Shrine Greeters, the Ararat Shrine Temple, the American Chemical Society and the Century Club of Children’s Mercy Hospital. He was a member and past Worthy Patron in the Order of the Eastern Star and a member and greeter at The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. Mr. Gronberg married wife, Marilyn in November of 1958 and dedicated 51 wonderful years of his life to being a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a strong, intelligent and caring man, who adored his family and would do anything for them. He will be greatly missed.
