Richard A. McGovern

Mr. Richard Arthur McGovern was born March 9, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Center High School and later attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he received his Bachelor’s of Science. Rick went on to start his own business, Phoenix Office Products and ran a great company. Rick married Jan in 1983 and they had two children, daughters Kimberly Skelly, married to Sean, and Megan McGovern.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur McGovern, niece Lauren Tritt, and his mother, Ann Roberson, following him in death later that same night.

He is survived by wife and daughters; stepmother, Brigitta McGovern of Port Isabelle, TX; brother John McGovern, wife Molly, and daughter, Lindsey of Excelsior Springs; step sister Sylvia and her husband Neal Carlisle of Virginia, in-laws Karen and Bill Tritt of Kansas City, Polly and David Dresnick of Lee’s Summit, Chuck and Judie Schnieders of Kansas City and their children.

Rick passed away February 22, 2013 at home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Thursday, February 28, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO, with burial in Mount Olivet. Visitation will be 6-8pm, Wednesday, February 27 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Institute at St. Luke’s Hospital on the plaza where Rick received, in a short period of time, excellent care led by his niece, Dr. Kelley Young.
