Bob Whitney was a Korean War Veteran and was stationed in France. He started working for AT&T in Detroit and he spent his entire working career with AT&T. AT&T moved him and the family to several states; Ohio, back to Michigan, then to New Jersey, then Kansas City, back to New Jersey and finally back to Kansas City where he finished his career at the age of 59.
There were many summers spent at Big Portage Lake in Michigan at the trailer with boating and skiing and time spent with family. Bob was a Boy Scout leader for one of his sons while in New Jersey between 1970-1973.
After Bob’s retirement he joined the Masons and was involved with their organization as well as his church. He and his wife Patsy enjoyed traveling around visiting many of the wonderful sites in this country. He had a wry sense of humor and liked to pull your leg. He could dish out the sarcasm as well as take it which a lot of his friends can attest to that fact. In his many trips to the hospital in his last years, he would give the nurses a jovial hard time, always trying to keep the mood light.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred E. Whitney and Laina J. (Maliniemi) Whitney, his sister Earleen Leslie and spouse Andy Leslie, and his brother Bill Whitney.
Survivors include his wife Patsy Whitney of the home, his six children Susan Weddle (Henry Buda), Holly Whitney (Paul Stewart), Nancy Patterson (Wes), James Whitney, Robert Whitney (Stacy), Kymber Umana (Boadil), 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, his stepson Robert Ross (Ginger) and 2 grandchildren.
