

Robert Hurrel Bordner, 92, of Lee’s Summit, MO died at John Knox Village Care Center on March 11, 2021. Bob was born and lived most of his life in Raytown, MO, moving to Greenwood, MO in 1975. He graduated from Raytown High School in 1947. He married Bonnie Lee Johnson, whom he met at the skating rink, impressing her with his skating skills, in 1947. They were married until Bonnie’s death in 1987.
Bob served in the Merchant Marines near the end of World War II. He owned a painting company, well known for doing fine painting in the Kansas City area.
In 1975, Bob began a land development and home building company. He developed sub-divisions and built many beautiful homes in Raytown and Greenwood. Bob loved aviation, he was an accomplished pilot and owned many different airplanes. He loved boating and other outdoor hobbies. He was additionally a Master Bridge player. He spent many happy days at the Lake of the Ozarks, skiing, boating and teaching his sons and others to ski. He and his wife Bonnie enjoyed metal detecting and traveled to many different states for competitions.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, George and Nell Bordner, his wife Bonnie Bordner and a grandson Brian Bordner. He is survived by two sons, Greg (Debi) and Randy (Karen) Bordner, six grandchildren, Stacy Anderson, Emily (Joe) Thomas, Mary Bordner (John) Tanck, Sarah (Chris) Alldaffer, Lara (Ryan) Schmidt, and Mike (Michelle) Bramble. Bob had 10 (and one due soon) great grandchildren whom he got great joy from. He is also survived by a brother, Charles Bordner of Florida, and a sister, Charlene Tompkins of Alabama and many nieces and nephews, and his good friend of 85+ years, Larry Mock, whom he has known and been friends with since kindergarten. Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Private graveside services will be held with internment at Floral Hills East in Lees Summit, Missouri.
