

Robert M Mason, the son of Hal Mason and Margaret Davidson Mason was born in Independence, Kansas on December 25, 1917. He passed away on January 5, 2012 at the age of 94. Ruth, his wife of 69 years, passed away in July of 2010.
He grew up in Emporia, Kansas, graduating from Emporia High School in 1937. He went to Emporia State Teachers College where he joined a fraternity, Phi Sigma Epsilon, and met his future wife, Ruth Rynders from Wichita, Kansas. They were married on June 21, 1941. In October of 1941, Bob was drafted into the Army and was assigned to the 8th Air Force European Theater Operation. After the war, he and Ruth began their family in Wichita, Kansas. They eventually moved to Kansas City where he started his own business in appliance distribution; Mason Distributing Company. He later boughtTotal Office Supplies, which included two retail stores along with large corporate sales.
Bob and Ruth raised their family in Leawood, Kansas. They retired to Lakeview Village where they fully enjoyed life with new and old friends.
Their daughters. Nancy Byram and husband, Steve reside in Olathe, Kansas. Peggy Van Auken and husband, Dan reside in Colorado Springs. Their daughter- in- law Cindy and husband Randy Irey reside in Leawood, Kansas. Ruth and Bob’s son, Richard Mason, passed away in 1977. “Pops” has six grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was adored and loved by all. He was a big part of all of our lives.
