Bob was born on November 6, 1946, in Claremont, New Hampshire, to John and Lena Paradis. He graduated from Stevens High School in 1964. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving four years, including service during the Vietnam War.
On October 18, 1968, Bob married the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Welborn, affectionately known as “Dot.” Together they shared 57 years of marriage and built a life centered on family, service, and love.
After leaving the Air Force, Bob worked as a security guard at Crown Center. In January 1977, he began a long career with the Grandview, Missouri Police Department, where he served as a patrol officer, detective, and later as a D.A.R.E. officer. He retired from the department in July of 1997. Following retirement, Bob continued working in maintenance at Cass Midway School and later as a security guard at Cass Regional Medical Center.
Bob and Dot were blessed with three children: sons Lance and Cam, and daughter Theresa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lena Paradis; his sister, Cathy Luopa; his parents-in-law; and his infant son, Cam.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy “Dot” Paradis; his son Lance and wife Lori Paradis; daughter Theresa and her significant other Michael; and his cherished grandchildren: Kylie (Garrett), Alex (Addy), John (Sarah), Trent, Tyler (Arielle), Maverick (Bailey), Audrey (Colton), and Kennedie (Alex). He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Waylon, Wryder, Loretta, and Finley.
Bob was loved by everyone and truly never met a stranger. He had a gift for making friends wherever he went and was always sharing stories and jokes. He was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed welding and woodworking, and he would do anything for anyone—often giving the shirt off his back if someone needed it more than he did.
Above all, Bob treasured time with his family. He rarely missed a child’s, grandchild’s, or great-grandchild’s event. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and especially spending time at the shooting range.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be announced at a later date.
