I have corresponded with Bob since 1973 in regard to his hand drawn observed lunar occultation profiles using my data.

   Later, in the 90s, he would call me for technical help with his video recorded occultations.

   I will miss his sense of humor, his one liner jokes over the phone, which he knew hundreds off the too of his head.

   Bob, may you rest in peace while your spirit travels the vast universe.

I enjoyed working with Bob since I met him in 1964; we collaborated on building up the worldwide network of grazing occultation observers in those early years to form what would become the International Occultation Timing Association (IOTA) 11 years later.  I was glad that we travelled to Missouri last April, to observe with Bob one last time in a practice for an occultation that Bob could not observe because a friend of his died during the day before it occurred. The friend had no relatives or other friends in the KC area, so Bob selflessly helped take care of things for the friend's family in Maine. I'm sorry that we will not be able to travel to KC for Bob's service. Bob, we enjoyed all your jokes as well as your work for IOTA; R.I.P. David

Sad news of Bob's passing. I don't think I ever met him face-to-face, but he was a long-distance mentor in astronomy citizen science. I would get calls on our land-line at random times, with Bob wanting to discuss one aspect or another. He was a big name in the field of measuring the features of the Moon's mountains and valleys by video-timing when a background star would disappear behind the edge of a lunar mountain and reappear a few seconds later in a valley, disappear behind another mountain, and so on, often multiple times. He was a master at the (in the early days) pains-taking process of analyzing these measurements, and was always interested in getting a copy of my results. Clear skies, Bob.

So glad you are with the lord. Wondered  what riddle you told  at the gate ? I am guessing you will have a great audience.  

Daisy sends her love will  find you when she crosses over Rainbow Bridge . She said she will always love you for helping find he forever Mommy. 

Peter and I will see you once again in not very long future.

Thank you for being my good friend. I never forget our trip to the observatory and the old village store at Louisburg cider mill tore.
