Robin Marie (Walsh) Walsh, 59, passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness on March 13, 2018. Robin was born July 14, 1958, the daughter of Thomas F. Walsh Jr. and Joann (Siebenthaler) Walsh. She attended St. Francis Xavier Grade School, Bishop Hogan High School and received her BA in Business: Legal Assistant from Avila University. Robin married the love of her life, Edmund Thomas Walsh III on July 18, 1981 at Our Lady of Lourdes in Raytown, MO. In 1991, Robin and Ed were blessed with the addition of Joshua Michael to their family. Joshua became Robin’s heart and soul. She loved being a mom and making his life special. She was heart-broken when Josh passed away in 2012.
Robin was a vivacious red-head with unlimited energy. She was always active and engaged all through her life from cheerleading and theatre in high school to serving as Student Union Board Chairperson at Avila University for several years. Robin was the proud recipient of the “Avila Medal of Honor” and the “Walsh Volunteer of the Year” award created in her honor. Robin worked for Professional Medical Insurance Co. for most of her career, making many lifelong friends. She managed the legal department and was the creator and editor of the company magazine, “The Monitor”. She continued her career as office manager at Benefits Design Group, Inc. until her retirement.
Robin was the consummate event planner. She loved to plan parties for everyone to enjoy. She could take a simple idea and make it the most memorable event. She had a true love of spreadsheets and planned things to the smallest detail. Her Santa parties were legendary.
Robin loved the attention that came with the fact that she was a Walsh who married a Walsh. It always resulted in lots of questions about whether she understood what a maiden name was. “Maiden name?”, “Walsh”. “No, not your married name, your maiden name?” “I know, Walsh!” Her favorite teacher at Avila referred to her as Walsh Squared.
She had a love of Disney, Precious Moments, Cherished Teddies and Spun Glass acquiring quite the collections. She, Ed, Josh & Christie enjoyed many trips to Disneyland, Disney World & Disney Cruises. Robin & Ed even celebrated their honeymoon in Orlando.
Robin was an incredible Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Godmother and Friend. She made everyone feel so special and loved. She was always thoughtful, kind and supportive. Even in the last few years, when she had to accept the “New Robin” who didn’t have the sharp memory, physical stamina and previous abilities, she still handled it with grace and hope that things would get better.
She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Walsh; son, Joshua Walsh, father-in-law, Edmund Walsh. She is survived by her loving husband, Edmund of 36 years, mother, Joann Walsh; brother, Mark (Donna) Walsh; sister, Christine (Barbara) Walsh; sister-in-law, Patricia Smith; brother-in-law, Steven Walsh; nieces & nephews, Bradley (Gretchen) Walsh, Shawn Foster, Jacqueline Smith, Jeff (Paula) Smith, Chris (Katherine) Jesmore, Nathan (Melissa) Jesmore, Zachary Walsh; great-nieces & nephews, Marjorie & Felix Walsh, Kathleen & Rob Smith, Amanda Smith and Mason Jesmore; Goddaughter, Michelle Sailler and lifelong friend, Connie Barnhart.
