Ron was born January 23,1935 and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, where he spent most of his adult life. He graduated from East High School in KCMO in 1953. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at MCAS, El Toro, Santa Ana, California. During his enlistment he was sent to Ordnance Automotive School in Atlanta, Georgia, for a training course in welding and obtained his Certificate of Proficiency for Metal Body Repair. He then returned to Santa Ana, California and began welding repair on the tankers. Within a year and a half he was promoted to Sergeant. He served a three year term with USMC, received the First Award Certificate of Good Conduct from active duty in 1956 and transferred to the Marine Corps Reserves until 1961.
Ronald married in 1956 and divorced in 1976, and from that marriage he became the father of 3 sons and 1 daughter.
In 1970, he went to work for Gilbert/Robinson Restaurants, where he traveled to many states throughout the US designing and decorating many of their restaurants, such as; Annie’s Santa Fe, Sam Wilson’s Meat Market, Plaza III, Houlihan’s and many others. Once GR closed their doors, he decided to go into business for himself and started Artco Design Group. His creativity and his admiration for artifacts and antiques soon led him to develop a long-lasting relationship with Tom Norsworthy, owner of the 54th Street Bar & Grills. Together they spent many years designing, decorating, and opening 13 of the 54th Street Bar and Grills before he retired. During his retirement he still found time to shop for artifacts and antiques and then became the sole proprietor as a vendor at the Brass Armadillo, where he continued his admiration for antiques.
The family decided dad’s unexpected departure from his life here is to celebrate his long life later. We will not plan to have a memorial or burial service, as we are certain he has already peacefully arrived at his Final Destination.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Evelyn Hull; sister, Leola Heard; brothers, Donnie and Billy Hull; and grandson Dustin Hull.
Survivors include his children, Mark (Jill) Hull, Melinda, Terry and Darin (Cheryl) Hull and his co-conspirator of shenanigan's Mark Watson; brothers, David (Barb) Hull, and Steve (Carol) Hull; sister Beverly (Michael) Diiorio; 9 Grandchildren; 8 Great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Jackson Creek Memory Care and the Interim Hospice Care Team for everything they did to comfort our dad. A special thank you goes to our favorite friend and RN, Rosie Poia, who provided such great care, compassion, and kindness for the last three years.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mcgilleyantiochchapel.com for the Hull family.
